Bahrain’s capital, Manama is modern, dominated by a cosmopolitan skyline. Modern skyscrapers share the landscape with majestic mosques, embodiments of Islamic art, culture and architecture.

Bahrain, known as the Pearl of the Gulf, is an archipelago of 33 islands on the western shore of the Arabian Gulf. Home to one of the oldest civilization on earth, this island nation is a blend of the modern and the old. Manama is the very new capital of a very old place. Many of the newer hotels and official buildings along the northern edge of the city sit on reclaimed land, while there are neighborhoods a few blocks inland that have changed little in the last 50 years.
