This week's  story:

Kyoto - The Imperial Capital

Whether Kyoto is visited in spring when the cherry trees bloom, or in the fall, when the leaves turn to glorious red, orange and yellow, this city with its long history is just as beautiful.  Although a modern city and the 7th largest in Japan, Kyoto has a calmer pace than Tokyo and Osaka.

Kyoto was Japan’s imperial capital for 20 centuries, from 794 to 1869.  Tokyo became and has been Japan’s capital for over 1000 years now but Kyoto remains its cultural and artistic centre.

Nothing is more evident than the abundance of festivals that the people of Kyoto have produced over the years.  This city holds a wealth of religious, artistic, cultural and traditional festivals.
